I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! Perhaps you had an opportunity to visit the fair! Listed below are some questions that you may ask your child based on what we are learning:
- Before reading, what do you think the text will be about? What helped you to make your prediction?
- Was your prediction correct? Cite examples from the text to support your answer.
- What questions do you have about the text? How do you think we can find the answers to your questions?
- What is the main idea and supporting details?
- What are some words that you did not know how to read? What are some words that you do not understand its meaning? How can you figure out how to read and/or determine its meaning?
- What is the author's purpose for writing a text?
- What makes a great story? How can I create an entertaining story?
- How do you round numbers to the nearest 10 or 100?
- Add 136+257. What strategies and/or tools did you use to add these numbers? How or why did you use these strategies and/or tools?
- Can you name the continent, country, state, county, and city where we live?
- Can you find Maryland on a map of the United States?
Notes
- When your child is absent, please send in a note when your child returns to school explaining the reasoning of their absence. This will help our secretaries determine if the absence is excused.
- Please remember that students are dismissed 2 hours early this Wednesday, September 24th. Also, schools will be closed this Thursday, September 25th. The Trek for Tech event will occur at school on Friday, September 26th.
