We had a great first week of school! I enjoyed meeting all of the students and getting to know them! I appreciate the time that was spent selecting items for the All About Me Bags! Presenting the All About Me Bags helped the students and me to learn some facts about each other!
The first week seemed to go by quickly as many routines were discussed and practiced. However, I have created a list of topics that we discussed during the week that could be conversation starters at home. These topics include:
- Becoming a leader within our classroom and school
- All of us make mistakes! However, it is what we do after the mistake that is so important!
- Building reading stamina
- Selecting just right books
- Analyzing different genres
- How to have a collaborative conversation
- How to close read a text
- The importance of making sense of problems and persevering while solving them
- Using reasoning before, during, and after solving a problem
- Constructing viable arguments and critiquing the reasoning of others
- Comparing and contrasting maps and globes
- Navigating an atlas
