Our students have previously been working on adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators during our sixth math unit. Students are currently working on multiplying fractions in a variety of ways:
- Whole number by a proper fraction (Example: 5 x 2/3)
- Whole number by an improper fraction (Example: 6 x 3/2)
- Fraction by fraction, both larger than 1 (Example: 1 2/3 x 3 3/4)
- Fraction by fraction, both smaller than 1 (Example: 5/6 x 2/3)
- Fraction by fraction, one larger than 1 and one smaller than 1 (Example: 1 5/8 x 3/4)
Students will be learning soon how to divide fractions. To view the Unit 7 Family Resource Page on multiplying and dividing fractions, please click on the following link: Unit 7 Family Resource Page!
