I hope everyone had a great weekend! I am looking forward to beginning Week #3 with all of the students!
Listed below are some of the skills students will learn this week. Also, I included some reminder notes at the end of this post!
Note: Some of the skills will be similar to what was posted last week. As we were continuing to build routines, we may have only spent a short amount of time on some skills. Thus, we will build upon these skills this week!
Math- Students will begin to round numbers to the nearest tens and hundreds. Students will also review how to add and subtract 1, 2, and 3 digit numbers. Additionally, we will build addition and subtraction math fact fluency. This means we will work towards improving speed and accuracy while adding and subtracting numbers.
Reading- Students will continue reading the informational texts they started last week. Students will be engaged by asking and answering questions. Also, students will continue to determine the main idea and supporting details of a text. Students will build vocabulary by using context clues and the glossary at the end of their texts.
Writing- Students will finish a story about a family member that is special to them. Also, students will begin writing a story about a place that is meaningful to them. Be on the lookout for the Newsbook by the end of the week! The students will be writing to you! They are asked to share some of the topics they have been learning about at school. Also, the students may ask you questions. Please take some time to respond to the students once the Newsbook comes home!
Social Studies- Students will continue learning about maps and globes. We have been learning about different map elements. Also, students have been learning about their location in the world as they identify the seven continents and five oceans.
Back to School Night- Please remember that Back to School Night for 3rd grade is this Wednesday, September 10th!
Trek for Tech Labels- If you have not had the chance, please consider returning the labels for the Trek for Tech event as soon as possible! This will help us send out as many letters as possible so we can raise money for more technology in our school! Thank you for your support!
Have a great week!
